Different precious metals
14 carat gold means that the gold used within a piece contains of 58.5% pure gold and the rest consists of other metals. The use of other metals is always necessary for gold jewelry because pure gold is too soft and therefore very flexible and sensitive to wear. Pure gold is indicated as 24 carat and consists for 99,99% of pure gold. By adding other metals to pure gold, gold is made firmer. The higher the carat content, the purer the gold. In general 14 carat is used the most, because this metal/gold division has a good balance of a beautiful gold colour and a good strength. Also, in some countries, including the Netherlands, 14 carat is seen as the lowest gold content to be referred to as a gold piece.
9 carat gold means that the ratio of gold to metal in a piece of jewelry is 33.73% gold to other metals. The higher the carat content, the warmer the gold color in a piece of jewelry. Both our 9 carat jewelry as our 14 carat jewelry are made to last forever. Gold is one of the few metals where people are least allergic to, making it suitable for sensitive ears. Also, 9 and 14 carat gold is hard enough to minimize scratching, making them suitable for daily use.
All our silver jewelry are 925 sterling silver, which means that in a piece of jewelry consist of 92.5% pure silver and the remaining 7.5% consist of other metals. We never just gold or silver plate our products, so silver will always be silver and gold jewelry will always be gold. We want our pieces to have the best quality and last forever. We do apply a layer of rhodium to our silver products. Silver has to have a tarnish layer, if not silver corrodes easier and rhodium is a type of metal that offers good resistance to corrosion. This helps keeping all of our products as beautiful as ever and have a more luxurious appearance. Rhodium is known as the rarest and most expensive metal there is, even more expensive and rare than gold or platinum. We want our products to last as long as possible and do not want any color change. In addition, we only want to use the best products, which is why we have chosen rhodium.
We stand for our products and want our products to be worn with pleasure, without an allergic reaction. We never use nickel in any of our products, because we want you to enjoy your jewelry without any irritation and that your jewelry will last forever.
